I Found the Perfect Souvenir—But It Didn’t Exist.
After reflecting on the beautiful 25th-anniversary trip to South Dakota and the incredible sights within a 1½-hour drive, I felt the need to share this with you.
As someone in the promotional-product space, I was shocked (as was my husband) by the sheer lack of assortment at some sites and thoroughly disappointed by the lack of creativity, at 99% of them. Mount Rushmore, SOLID! 100%! Bucket List item checked off! Sterling silver charm for my necklace, purchased!
The other “sight-seeing” musts on the other hand are sitting on revenue stream just waiting to be tapped into with the Golden Ticket at their fingertips. Once quick example, a colorful arrowhead logo filled with meaning, colors and imagery that simplistically and beautifully represent God’s Country and their purpose within it. No merch. NOTHING! Something so simple and even inexpensive for most of them who are NPO’s.
No sticker. No patch. No tee. No Richardson 112 Trucker hat. Not even my favorite, a coffee mug!
Simple. Meaningful. Storytelling-worthy. And NOTHING. It NEVER has to be expensive, it needs to be intentional, thoughtful and full of purpose!
A logo on a product doesn’t make it memorable. It’s about the person/people with you. The memories made. The experienced lived. And if it’s available, it’s about incorporating a meaningful logo on the RIGHT product can keep the story alive long after the trip ends.
I’m eternally grateful for my husband. His love for me and wanting me to check something off my Bucket List. The time, effort, and excitement he put into planning this incredible adventure for us, all of our magnificent photographs, and the opportunity to potentially grow my business in South Dakota!
Love you, Jeff and I know where I’m cold calling next!
